Some of them I love simply because they're drop-dead gorgeous, and others I love because they work very well functionally - freeing my fingers up to still be able to play an accompanying melody. 

There are two things you should be thinking about when picking specific chord voicings...

1) Sound - this one is simple. Do you like the way this voicing sounds? Does it fit the current mood and dynamic of your arrangement? 

2) Function - this is equally important! Does this specific chord voicing set your hand and fingers up to play all the notes you need? Does it enable you to reach all the melody notes above the chord?
